Board of Directors

The makeup of the Tri-County Board of Directors is prescribed by law to ensure broad representation of interests, including both mental health and alcohol and drug professionals, consumers and families, and community leaders. Members are volunteers who may serve two consecutive four-year terms plus a partial term as long as it does not exceed 10 years; individuals may be reappointed after one year of absence. Members are appointed by either county commissioners from Darke, Miami and Shelby counties, or by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS). The Director of OMHAS shall appoint six members of the board and the board of county commissioners shall appoint 12 members. Membership is capped at a maximum of 18, and is apportioned by county population.*
