The outbreak of High Pathogenic Avian Influenza in our area, together with other pressures on the agricultural community, are raising stress levels for farm families and professionals. Ohio has a number of resources specific to the mental health of farmers and farm workers.
  •  The Ohio Farm Bureau has a website dedicated to agricultural mental health at https://ofbf.org/tag/mental-health/
  • The Ohio Department of Agriculture, the Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and the Ohio Farm Bureau have formed an alliance at https://agri.ohio.gov/divisions/administration/resources/Ohio-organizations-form-alliance-to-address-mental-health-in-agriculture-ohio-farm-bureau-ohio-state-university
  • The Ohio State University hosts a website on Rural and Farm Stress at https://u.osu.edu/farmstress/resources/
Farm families, farm workers and others concerned about their mental health can refer to the "What to Do" resource below for signs and symptoms, hotlines and other resources, and what to say when contacting them.
