The Tri-County Board recognizes that as an employer and as a building frequently visited by providers, community members, media persons and others, it has a responsibility to plan for response to medical emergency situations.
If you witness a medical emergency
If you are attending the individual with the medical emergency, direct another employee in your area to call emergency services. Either you or an employee you designate must go to the building entrance and direct rescue personnel to the individual with the medical emergency.
When an employee has a medical emergency, the supervisor will contact the employee’s designated emergency contact person.
The Tri-County Board will provide and maintain first aid kits on its premises. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with their locations. The Safety Officer will conduct an inventory of the first aid kits on a quarterly basis and replenish materials as needed. At a minimum, the first aid kits will contain adhesive bandages, antiseptic wipes and ointment, burn crème, sterile gauze, gloves, tape, eye pads, cold packs, scissors, tweezers and a first aid guide.

If you witness a medical emergency
- Call 911 to request emergency medical response.
- If the person is disoriented, faint, or appearing to go into seizure have them lie down in an open floor space so they won’t fall or injure themselves
- If the person is able to speak, ask if there is any medical information the EMT’s/paramedics may need to know. Check for Med-Alert bracelets/necklaces.
- Cooperate with responding medical personnel fully.
